I first came across the phrase “Self-care is the New Healthcare” back in 2012 when I started HWSS and at the time I just thought of it as a clever tag-line. However with the passage of time and especially during the statistical pandemic of 2020 I have come to realize just how true this is.
Over recent weeks I have shared on here the following:
Are Lockdowns Effective at Managing Pandemics?
(i.e. Lockdowns don’t work)
Correlation Between Mask Compliance and COVID 19 Outcomes in Europe.
(i.e. Masks don’t work)
(i.e. Fraudulent use of the PCR)
Social Distancing based on Outdated Science
(i.e. 6 feet apart was just a catchphrase)
However, these were the most strident measures adopted by Western Governments to tackle the statistical pandemic and yet they are all flawed. When you add in the closure of the Gyms (exercise is proven to improve C-19 outcomes)1 and the lockdowns kept People indoors and away from Sunlight depriving them of Vitamin D (now proven to be a vital regulator of the immune system)2 you start to see a very worrying trend.
That trend is Big Government is not looking out for the well-being of its People but following their own corrupt agenda.
This is without considering the perpetual NHS crisis and the fact that face to face GP appointments seem to be a thing of the past.
So where does this leave us The Public? What can we do to counter this and protect ourselves going forward?
Well firstly, I think we need to strive to keep ourselves out of the clutches of the NHS in the first place and the starting point for this is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. There are a few zero-cost adjustments that we can all make namely:
reviewing what we eat and reducing the amount of processed and ultra-processed foods;
ensuring we get sufficient sleep;3
introduce a simple exercise such as walking into our daily routine where possible;4
go outdoors as often as we can to improve our vitamin D levels;
hydrate effectively;5
Then if we choose to take the next step, I believe we have to select suitable tests (blood or DNA as appropriate)678 in order to gain an idea of what is going on under the bonnet i.e. inside our bodies. Without these insights it is really difficult to know what other steps we should be taking. I have covered this in a previous piece titled My Health Journey Part I where I share my health history and the steps I have taken so far.
Once we have this information we can begin to make informed decisions. If the results show we are key-nutrient deficient then we can decide whether we need to supplement to plug those gaps.
If you are unsure where to start a good place would be to look at the 37 trillion cells that exist in every part of our bodies. They all have a job to do so it stands to reason that if any or some of these are not functioning correctly a problem will arise. Our Omega 6:3 ratio is significant in this regard and I intend to cover this topic in more detail in a future article but in the meantime you can watch a short video on the importance of this ratio by using the link here: HWSS TV.
So having tested, supplemented and adopted a healthier lifestyle what other measures can we take? Well most People these days own a smartwatch or other fitness tracking device and most of these monitor the basic functions such as Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Oxygen, Sleep, Steps and Calories with the more advanced models offering real-time ECG’s both as one-time or continuous readings. All of these bio-metrics can be saved and shared with your GP remotely if necessary.
You can review the two smartwatches we currently offer by using the link here:
When you are in a position to know your vital numbers and monitor your important metrics at home you’ll be surprised at how comprehensive self-care can be and how much peace of mind this provides.
I understand that we are living in austere times at the moment so spending money on tests and healthcare solutions may not be at the top of everyone’s priority list but there is a famous quote which pretty much sums things up:
This is the dilemma facing a lot of People at this time but I think we need to consider looking at our healthcare needs as an investment rather than a cost where the dividends are received in the form of prolonged good health. We must strive to avoid being impaired for the final 5 or 10 years of our life where we are denied the pleasure of doing what we want to because of illness or physical restriction.
There are many debilitating conditions that can be reversed or at least greatly improved with a little care and attention and it is incumbent upon us all to at least find out how. We cannot rely on the State for any help in this regard for the reasons I have outlined above and I haven’t yet touched on the food industry, big pharma or iatrogenesis which are scheduled for future discussion.
So in conclusion, a test-led, evidence-based approach to self-care is the direction in which I think we should all be travelling because as we have seen in recent years the State are quite willing to waste billions upon billions of pounds in support of their agenda which does nothing for Public Health!
We are here to help anyone that wishes to learn more about self-care so please get in touch using bob@hwss.co.uk with any questions you may have.
Here’s to a healthier 2023 for Everyone!
